A very unusual NHL season starts tonight

The 2021 NHL season started today (don’t let the NHL fool you with that “2020-2021 season” bullshit). Short season, all-Canada division, and no fans…but…pro hockey for the next 130+ days (you know, until the pandemic invades). Did I, for the first time, spring for the full season NHL TV pass? You betcha. Am I enjoying a Canadian doubleheader tonight? I am. And the Los Angeles Kings start their season tomorrow.

Oh and a shipment of fresh white grapefruit came today. Game on.

Discounted All-Star jersey - check.

What does an Aku Aku Lapu have to do with the NHL? Nothing!

One year ago

I don’t like to tag a year as being bad and something to move on from. Recent history has shown me that wishing good riddance to a given year results in an even worse year (anyone remember kicking 2016 to the curb?).

Instead I’ll say that I’m looking forward to the opportunities provided by the new calendar that I will put up tomorrow.

I wish you the best in 2021 and beyond. And I will try, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, to focus on the positives in the world.

First day of Kings hockey for the 2021 season

Training camp for the 2021 season opened today, 12/31/20. I’m under no illusion that the Los Angeles Kings will be a good team in the 2021 season, but I’m ready for the new season anyway.

Go Kings.
