John's Grill - since 1908

I’m a sucker for a classic neon sign. John’s Grill in San Francisco has been in business since 1908 and while they’re probably most famous for a bird shrine, I dug the food and atmosphere most.

Tikiyaki 5-0

There’s never a bad time to see The Tikiyaki Orchestra or Tikiyaki 5-0. This was from the Alpine Village in July 2019.

Zombie Village!

Another first visit (also on June 29, 2019) to a relatively new tiki bar in San Francisco - Zombie Village. The space was big, but still dark and full of detail. If you are planning a visit, you may want to make a reservation to sit in a hut.

There's something inside your head.

Last week I bought an Oingo Boingo bootleg DVD recorded at the US Festival 1983. Watching it tonight, I think I’m going to be buying a few more copies for additional concerned parties..

Everybody loves...Tiki Bob!

It' ain’t easy being green. Or a long-standing tiki idol that probably only exists because he’s a load-bearing tiki.

Oh, if only more mid-century architecture included more load-bearing tikis.
